The Christmas season continues, with this Octave (eighth day) following the birth of Jesus. This is a day of celebration and devotion to Mary, Mother of God, who is also our own Blessed Mother. What a wonderful way to kick off the New Year!
Traditionally this day commemorated the circumcision of the infant Jesus, eight days after his birth. Since Vatican II, this holy day of obligation has been called the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God.
Bishop Robert Reed preaches about the ways Mary can help us to understand how God is among us.
