Immaculate Conception

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligation, is observed every year on December 8.

When Our Blessed Mother appeared to Saint Bernadette, she said, “I am the Immaculate Conception.” Devotion to the Immaculate Conception is often associated with the shrine at Lourdes, France, the site of Bernadette’s miraculous visions.
